![]() ![]() One of my pet peeves is when authors overuse adverbs or flowery verbs because the prose isn't strong enough to carry emotion, and Collins did this constantly. I never got lost in the story, since I was hyperaware of every phrase and word. The writing was amateurish and hella awkward. I can't believe this is an experienced author. Throw in a cute dog and precocious kid and call it a HEA. The whole plot point with Beck's sister Nikki was a train wreck from beginning to end. Dax's PTSD felt manufactured and simplistic. The flashbacks of the men's early lives were entirely unnecessary. There was so much melodrama and so much telling. The MCs were one-dimensional and jumped from misunderstanding to misunderstanding. First of all, where the hell are the tattoos on the cover? Beck owns a tattoo shop and has sleeves! ![]()
